Eitas currently has a full-time opening for a Community Outreach Manager to provide direct supervision to the members of the Community Outreach department (COD). Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Support Operations (DCSO), the Community Outreach Manager interacts daily with individuals with disabilities, families, agencies, and the general public. The Community Outreach Manager makes referrals for additional supports and services for Jackson County. The Community Outreach Manager will supervise an assigned team of Community Outreach staff and help ensure a high-quality integrated approach to caseload management of community resources.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Directly supervise members of the Community Outreach department (COD), including contracted employees and bachelors or masters level practicum students (Interns).
Oversee caseload management of Community Outreach staff.
Provide advocacy on behalf of individuals supported by the Community Outreach staff when needed services and supports are not readily or adequately available.
Participate as a member of eitas’ management team. Advocate for Community Outreach staff and the COD as necessary. Provide recommendations and feedback concerning operational aspects of the organization.
Represent eitas on committees, at community events, and in doing presentations. Establish relationships with other agencies and organizations that serve individuals with developmental disabilities.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Community Support Operations.
Experience and Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Special Education or a human services field which complies with the definition of Qualified Developmental Disability Professional listed in the Federal Register; A master’s degree is preferred; a minimum of three years experience in post- degree, programmatic aspects of developmental disabilities.
A minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
Familiar with the principles of person-centered planning and implementation.
Maintenance of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record and vehicle insurance in compliance with Eitas requirements or available transportation for the completion of all job duties.
A comparable combination of education and supervisory training will be considered in lieu of actual supervisory experience.
Skills Required:
Considerable knowledge and experience in management and supervision, human resources and labor and employment laws.
Considerable knowledge of a specific discipline (e.g. social work, special education, psychology, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, etc.) related to developmental disabilities.
Considerable knowledge of the type of providers and services and other community resources that are available for people with developmental disabilities.
Working knowledge of the behavioral sciences and allied disciplines in the evaluation, care and training of people who have developmental disabilities.
Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of DMH and DHSS requirements for reporting allegations of abuse and/or neglect.
Knowledge of the culture of gentleness and gentle teaching techniques.
Knowledge of person centeredness and person-centered thinking, planning and processes.
Knowledge of self-determination and self-directed supports and services.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to demonstrate and exercise sound judgment, initiative and tact in all interactions, organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks accurately.
Must present a professional, business-like manner and appearance.
Working knowledge of computers and basic Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions:
The Community Outreach Manager may travel on a scheduled and non-scheduled basis throughout the local area approximately 15% of the time, and spend approximately 85% of the time preparing reports, logs, correspondence and other paperwork in the Eitas office. This may include travel to agencies, programs, residences and other locations regarding individuals seeking support and services. The Community Outreach Manager will be required to interact with individuals with and without disabilities on the phone and in person and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
The Community Outreach Manager will be required to work in an office setting with periods of standing and sitting, occasional bending and reaching overhead, frequent handling of paperwork and electronic equipment. The continuous use of visual clarity at close and distant ranges is required to perform job duties. Punctual and regular attendance is required. When traveling, regular reporting of whereabouts is also required. Standard work hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Community Outreach Manager will also be able to set his/her own office hours, with pre-approval by the Director of Community Support Operations. Some evening work may be necessary periodically.
